Week 12 nfl injury preview

Week 12 of the NFL season arrives with major injury storylines that will shape fantasy playoff races. Several high-profile players across every position group are battling injuries, leaving fantasy managers scrambling for clarity before lineups lock. What can you expect from Joe Burrow? How about Josh Jacobs and Travis Etienne? This comprehensive Week 12 Fantasy Football Injury Report breaks down expected timelines, performance outlooks, and risk considerations to help you make confident roster decisions as the playoff push intensifies.

Quarterbacks

Lamar Jackson

Injury: Ankle injury
Analysis: Lamar was limited early in the week with a mild ankle injury, but is going to play. An ankle injury can obviously impact his ability to quickly change direction while running, but when it is mild like his seems to be, it is unlikely to be much of an issue. His passing should remain sound, and his rushing should not see much of a hit. Re-injury rates are high, though re-injuries are not always severe. Fantasy managers can continue to confidently start Jackson as an elite QB1.

week 12 nfl injury preview

Joe Burrow

Injury: Toe injury
Analysis: Oh, this just got interesting! Burrow, who is just over two months post-op from a grade III turf toe injury, has ramped up his practice significantly this week. Being just two months out from surgery, the tissues repaired are not yet at 100%, but Burrow does not need them to be to play well. With this being his left big toe, he would only be stressing it during running, not throwing.

His right big toe takes on immense loads with each throw, and if the injury were to his right big toe, there is no way we would be having the discussion of Burrow potentially playing this week. As of this writing, Burrow is still questionable, but if he does play, he should be able to throw the ball well and can instantly be seen as a low-end QB1 who should quickly resume his high-end QB1 status after a week or two.

Dak Prescott

Injury: Hip injury
Analysis: Prescott started the week limited with a hip injury, but was able to practice in full on both Thursday and Friday, indicating his hip is nothing to worry about. A more significant hip injury, particularly if it were to his right hip, could impact throw power, but a mild hip injury will not. Dak has been good this season, but faces a stout Philly defense. Even with the matchup, he is a mid-tier QB1.

Jordan Love

Injury: Left shoulder injury
Analysis: Love will not be limited by his left shoulder injury. This is his non-throwing arm, making it irrelevant to his throwing motion. Another big hit could hurt and worsen the existing injury, but in the absence of a big hit, Love's fantasy production won't be impacted.

Jaxson Dart

Injury: Concussion
Analysis: Dart has been ruled out again with a concussion. He should have a good chance of passing through the NFL's concussion protocol by next week. Football fans get another week of Jameis Winston.

Daniel Jones

Injury: Fibula injury

Analysis: Jones is cleared from the injury report from a fibula injury. This is very unusual and may be misreported by Coach Steichen as an actual Fibula injury only occurs from impact or from abnormal loading following a major surgery or injury to the region. Either way, it's minor and won't affect Jones' production this week. He remains a low-end QB1/high-end QB2.

Aaron Rodgers

Injury: Left wrist fracture
Analysis: As of this writing, Rodgers' game status is undetermined, but we can break down how his injury would impact him if he does play. If Rodgers does go this week, his throwing is unlikely to be hindered in any way, but his ball handling may be. He would certainly wear a brace or a heavy tape job with a glove over the top, which would add bulk and reduce dexterity to his left hand and wrist. Having played this game for a long time, he can probably adjust quickly; however, this could lead to fumbles, but not any impact on throwing.

Dillon Gabriel

Injury: Concussion
Analysis: Gabriel will miss week 12 as he progresses through the concussion protocol. We will check on his status next week.

Running Backs

week 12 nfl injury preview

Josh Jacobs

Injury: Knee bruise
Analysis: Jacobs remains questionable heading into the weekend with a left knee bruise. Reports suggest there is no structural loss, meaning all the ligaments are intact. This means there is no loss of stability within the knee, so as soon as the bruising fully subsides, his function should fully restore. The rate at which knee swelling subsides is variable and can take days to weeks, but in the absence of any true tissue damage, it generally will not persist beyond 7-10 days.

For fantasy football purposes, with no true tissue damage, there is no reason to believe he can't make all the usual cuts and run with power. If the swelling comes down enough that he can play,y he should be able to run well and be a high upside fantasy start.

Alvin Kamara

Injury: Ankle injury
Analysis: Kamara has been battling ankle injuries all season. To this point, he has not missed a game, and coming off the bye should be no different. Ankle injuries can impact a runner's ability to change direction, but when mild, a solid tape job can help maintain stability and reduce production impact. I would not expect his injury to slow him down; however, Kamara's production has taken a big hit this season.

Jaylen Warren

Injury: Ankle injury
Analysis: Warren has been removed from the injury report and is set to play Sunday against the Bears. Ankle injuries can impact the ability to quickly change directions, but mild injuries that don't require any missed time are usually not a significant concern. Running backs average an 8% dip in fantasy points in game one following an ankle injury. Warren should remain a solid RB2/flex.

Isiah Pacheco

Injury: MCL sprain

Analysis: Pacheco will miss his third straight game with an MCL sprain. He clearly has not regained the range of motion or stability needed to confidently push off his injured leg. MCL sprains are notorious for swelling but usually heal well. Running backs average missing three games and see a significant drop-off in fantasy production upon return.

Trey Benson

Injury: Meniscus trim
Analysis: Benson began practicing this week, but is not quite ready to play after a meniscus trim after week four. Eight weeks is usually enough to get back to full strength, but for Benso, it will be at least nine weeks. The good news is function is usually not limited after a meniscus trim, and he should be able to perform at a high level this season.

D’Andre Swift

Injury: Hip injury
Analysis: Swift has been playing through a hip and groin injury all season and has only missed one game. These injuries can hurt and can impact agility, but when mild enough to play through, they typically are not much of a problem when the athlete is warmed up and adrenaline is flowing. Historically, running backs average a 20% dip in points after a hip injury, but Swift has already shown he can play well through this injury and remains a solid RB2.

Travis Etienne

Injury: Shoulder injury
Analysis: Etienne was limited early this week with a shoulder injury, but is off the report and good to go in week 12. Mild shoulder injuries can be played through and don't impact breakaway speed, but can impact power and willingness to seek contact. Etienne's injury sounds minor and will be less likely to have a negative impact, but running backs do average a 19% dip in points after a shoulder injury. He remains a solid RB2.

Bam Knight

Injury: Ankle injury

Analysis: Knight has been removed from the injury list and presumably will carry a big load this week with Benson not yet ready to play and Demercado out. Mild ankle injuries typically are not enough to put much strain on a running back's fantasy output, averaging just an 8% dip in points. Re-injury rates are high, but Knight should be a solid RB3/flex option this week.

Kenneth Walker

Injury: Glute

Analysis: Walker was added to the injury report on Friday with a glute injury. The glutes are the biggest and strongest muscles in the human body and are critical for sprinting and cutting. This being true, the body still has a unique way of compensating and still generating power in the presence of injury. Coach MacDonald states Walker is fine, and this is likely just a mild strain. Still, running backs average a 20% dip in fantasy points. Walker has been incredibly unreliable this season, and this injury hurts his week 12 potential.

Bucky Irving

Injury: Foot / Shoulder injuries

Analysis: Irving will be held out another week with his foot and shoulder issues. We got conflicting reports on Irving this week, with Mike Florio sounding the alarm but refusing to dive any deeper, but Todd Bowles stating that Bucky is close to being ready.

Both can be true. We know Bucky has instability in his shoulder; he may be having a rough go of stabilizing the shoulder with rehab alone, but that doesn't necessarily mean he can't play. Whenever he does return, he will likely wear a shoulder harness and should be able to play at a high level, but the re-injury risk will be extremely high.

Rhamondre Stevenson

Injury: Toe injury
Analysis: Stevenson is trending toward returning in week 12 after a full practice on Friday. Toe injuries can be a challenge, and his missing multiple weeks tells us this was not minor. Expect Stevenson to lack some burst, acceleration, and overall explosiveness if he can play. Running backs average a 25% dip in fantasy points after a toe injury.

Justice Hill

Injury: Toe injury
Analysis: Hill missed one game with a toe injury but is now off the injury report. Hill's injury appears less severe compared to Stevenson's above and is less likely to slow him down. Hill should produce in his normal pass-catching role, but has little value in fantasy.

Bhayshul Tuten

Injury: Ankle injury
Analysis: Tuten has been removed from the injury report and is good to go. His injury looked bad, but video does not always fully tell the story. Tuten's ankle may still be lingering, but no injury designation gives us confidence that he is functioning near 100%. Re-injury is certainly a concern, but he can still play well in his role.

Emari Demercado

Injury: High ankle sprain
Analysis: Demercado will miss week 12 with a high ankle sprain. High ankle sprains challenge a runner's ability to quickly plant and change direction, making it difficult to remain explosive. Running backs average missing 2.4 games, but fortunately, the time missed usually allows them to regain full function, and no drop-off in fantasy points is seen upon return. Demarcado's case will be different than some, however, as his teammate Trey Benson is set to return from injury while Demarcado is out.

Terrell Jennings

Injury: Knee injury
Analysis: Jennings was active with his knee injury last week but did not record a single touch. With another week to rehab, New England may be more comfortable getting him involved. Knee injuries can lead to soreness and stiffness, but by no,w that should be largely resolved. He's not the most attractive fantasy play this week, but his injury should not slow him down.

Wide Receivers

Drake London

Injury: PCL sprain
Analysis: London will miss at least week 12 with a PCL injury. PCL injuries are extremely tricky. The PCL is a passive stabilizer for the knee, providing stability with cutting and when unstable athletes have a challenging time creating separation, changing direction, and with explosive speed. Perhaps the most challenging thing about a PCL injury is that players can play through grade I and II sprains, but often at the expense of production.

This season, Brock Bowers missed four games, and Ricky Pearsall missed six games. Last season, Christian McCaffrey missed the final seven weeks, and Dalton Kincaid missed eight, all with PCL sprains. Each injury is different, so London is not guaranteed the same path, but it would be naive to expect him to return in week 13 and dominate again. The good news is these injuries do fully heal, and London will no doubt be dominant again, but it may not be until 2026.

Brian Thomas Jr.

Injury: High ankle sprain
Analysis: Thomas will miss his third straight game with a left high ankle sprain. Thomas's injury looked bad on video, and three straight games missed confirm this assumption. He likely is dealing with lingering stability issues that will take more time and rehab to return to his baseline. The good news is that receivers average no decline in fantasy points after a high ankle sprain.

Xavier Worthy

Injury: Ankle injury

Analysis: Worthy logged 76% of snaps last week playing through an injured ankle, but apparently aggravated it, leading to a DNP early this week. He was able to practice in full on Friday and is trending towards playing, but likely with functional restrictions. Worthy's game is built on speed and change of direction, traits that ankle sprains hinder. This was evident in his poor stat line last week (3 catches for 25 yards). Worthy is difficult to trust this week.

Marvin Harrison Jr.

Injury: Appendectomy
Analysis: As I wrote last week, Harrison is likely to miss multiple games as he allows his wound and the underlying abdominal muscle and fascia to heal following an emergency appendectomy. I would not be surprised if he misses week 13 as well.

Rashod Bateman

Injury: High ankle sprain
Analysis: Bateman will miss another week with a high ankle sprain. Receivers average missing 2.8 games; Bateman will now miss at least two.

Jayden Reed

Injury: Clavicle fracture & Jones fracture
Analysis: Reed is not yet ready to return from surgery on both his clavicle and foot. Progress is being made, however, as his 21-day practice window was opened this week. Ten weeks is plenty of time to rehab the clavicle fracture, and he is likely getting close to the end of the Jones fracture rehab as well. Reed is a sneaky candidate to help fantasy managers down the stretch this season and should be stashed in all formats.

Savion Williams

Injury: Foot injury
Analysis: Williams is unlikely to play this week after logging DNP/LP/DNP in practice this week. A foot injury can impact a receiver's ability to sprint and quickly change directions, and with Williams lower on the depth chart, even if he could gut it out, Green Bay may use the roster spot elsewhere.

Kayshon Boutte

Injury: Hamstring strain
Analysis: Boutte is set to return after missing two games with a grade I hamstring injury. A grade I injury has little to no loss of range of motion or strength and should allow Boutte to return and be productive right away. Re-injury is certainly a risk (20-30% recurrence rates), but his youth and no prior hamstring injury history will help reduce his re-injury risk. He can be played as a WR3/flex if needed.

Darius Slayton

Injury: Hamstring strain
Analysis: Slayton, whose hamstrings are no strangers to injury, is off the injury report and will return in week 12. As a deep threat receiver, he relies heavily on his hamstrings for speed, and one week off is unlikely to be enough to fully heal. Re-injury will be a major risk, and receivers average a 15% dip in fantasy points after a hamstring injury. Slayton is the top receiver there, so volume is in his favor, but it is still risky to start this week.

Elic Ayomanor

Injury: Hamstring strain
Analysis: Ayomanor will miss this week with a hamstring injury. His youth (22) should help with smooth healing, but hamstrings still have high recurrence rates, and receivers average missing just about two games. Who knows who Cam Ward has left to throw to?

Tory Horton

Injury: Groin / Shin injury
Analysis: Horton will miss another week with a shin and groin injury, with the shin sounding like the biggest issue. Shin injuries are uncommon in football, and almost always stress-related due to faulty mechanics. Rumors suggest Horton is an IR candidate, raising concern for a stress reaction or fracture. We will keep an eye out for reports confirming or negating that thought.

Chimere Dike

Injury: Chest injury
Analysis: Dike will play through a chest injury this week. Mild chest injuries are usually not too difficult to play through, but receivers do average a 16% dip in fantasy production. Dike may be the only receiver left in Tennessee.

Romeo Doubs

Injury: Wrist injury
Analysis: Doubs is off the injury report and will play. Mild wrist injuries are not a big concern; Doubs should not be affected by this.

Isaac Teslaa

Injury: Oblique injury
Analysis: Teslaa is questionable with an oblique injury. Receivers rely heavily on the obliques to help rotate the torso to twist and make catches. A player like Teslaa, who loves the spectacular catch,s will put a lot of stress on his obliques. He is not yet fantasy relevant, though the loss of Sam LaPorta may send more targets his way.

Chris Godwin

Injury: Fibula injury
Analysis: Godwin ramped up his practice this week, but is still listed as questionable with a fibula injury on the same leg that he underwent major surgery for last season. If Godwin is able to play, expect reliable hands but difficulty with separating and top-flight speed, making his a very risky start. Re-injury rate will be high.

Tight Ends

Sam LaPorta

Injury: Back surgery

Analysis: Back surgery in a 24-year-old is usually for one of two things: A disc injury or a fracture. With LaPorta still holding onto a "slim chance" of returning in the playoffs makes it most likely this was a disc herniation. Either way, his 2025 fantasy season is over, and his 2026 outlook is excellent.

Mike Gesicki

Injury: Pec injury
Analysis: Gesicki is back this week and should play well. The pec injury would be more likely to impact his ability to block versus catch and run, and with Jamaar Chase suspended, Gesicki could be a sneaky play this week.

Isaiah Likely

Injury: Calf injury
Analysis: Likely is off the injury report and will play with a mild calf injury. Tight ends average a 12% dip in fantasy points after calf injuries. Likely has not been good this year and does not need to be started.

David Njoku

Injury: Knee injury
Analysis: Njoku has been removed from the injury report and will play with a knee injury. Speed and quickness may be affected, but he is still a big body for rookie Shedeur Sanders and should be able to make some catches.

Brenton Strange

Injury: Hip ligament injury / Quad injury
Analysis: Strange remains questionable as he looks to return from a hip ligament injury. Hip ligaments can impact the stability of the entire pelvis, and stability must be restored to hold a solid core for blocking and quickly cutting. If Strange has regained these functions, he should be able to play well. He has not yet entrenched himself as a fantasy-relevant tight end.
