With the fantasy playoffs kicking off, every snap, every injury, and every decision matters more than ever. This week brings a massive wave of critical health updates — some encouraging, some concerning, and some that will determine whether you advance or go home. Below is your preview, but the full, in-depth analysis is available to subscribers who want a true medical edge heading into Week 15.
Quarterbacks

Jayden Daniels
Injury: Left elbow injury
Analysis: The one thing that couldn't happen, happened. After throwing an interception, Daniels got laid out by a defender blocking and landed directly on his injured left elbow. For Daniels, this clearly rattled things, and he did not finish the game. The good news is he landed with his elbow flexed versus extended, so he did not re-dislocate his elbow, and no additional damage occurred, but this must have hurt a lot. Daniels will not play this week but is expected back this season, and again, this injury won't impact his throwing or rushing.
Tyrod Taylor
Injury: Groin injury
Analysis: Taylor will miss week 15 with a groin injury. The groin muscles play a critical role in rotational motions at the hip, which is critical for throwing. In the presence of a groin injury, pain or injury-associated weakness can really impact throw power and accuracy as well as mobility, and clearly, Taylor is not in a position where he can overcome these injury-induced obstacles.
Justin Fields
Injury: Knee injury
Analysis: Fields will miss another game with a knee injury. The Jets have been quiet about the tissue injured, but a primarily rushing quarterback needs a fully intact, stable, and mobile knee to quickly cut and hit top speed. Fields is not an ideal fantasy play anyway, but in the event Tyrod Taylor cannot play, it does not look like Fields will be able to replace him.
Geno Smith
Injury: Right shoulder injury
Analysis: Geno is not expected to play in week 15 due to a right shoulder injury. Geno is right-handed, so obviously an injury to his throwing shoulder will impact throw power and accuracy. Quarterbacks actually average no decline in fantasy points after a shoulder injury, so if he can play in week 16, there's a chance he returns his baseline value, which has not been great this season.
Riley Leonard
Injury: PCL sprain
Analysis: Leonard exited week 14 with a grade I right PCL sprain, but has apparently been a full participant in practice all week. PCL injuries are all about stability, and with this being the knee he drives off of for throwing power, he needs stability in that right knee. There is a range of disability following a PCL sprain, and grade I injuries can be as simple as a day-to-day situation, but can also lead to athletes missing multiple weeks. In Leonard's case, his ability to practice in full each day this week tells us there is little stability lost. Still, Leonard has never started in the NFL and has no baseline fantasy value to project off, and if he does play (and start over Philip Rivers) I would not expect him to be a great fantasy start this week.

Running Backs

Alvin Kamara
Injury: MCL sprain
Analysis: Kamara is trending towards missing his third game with an MCL sprain. Running backs average missing exactly three weeks with an MCL, so this news is not out of the ordinary. An older back like Kamara will heal less efficiently compared to his 22-year-old self. The MCL does get a sound blood supply, so it will fully heal, but the challenge during the healing process is reducing swelling and improving stiffness and stability. He should be able to return this season (pending team decisions since the Saints stink), but running backs average a 10-15% dip in fantasy points in the first three games after an MCL.

Josh Jacobs
Injury: Knee bruise
Analysis: Jacobs has been dealing with knee bruising and swelling for a few weeks now, but to this point has been able to play well through these issues. He had repeat imaging this week, which again showed no structural damage, and he reportedly is purely dealing with swelling and nothing more. The knee is extremely prone to swelling, and a swollen knee will limit the range of motion and force production from the quadriceps muscles. As soon as swelling resolves, function restores, so if Jacobs gets to a place where he can suit up and play, he should play well. The risk is that his knee swells up again during the game, which could knock him out. If you are a risk taker, you are obviously starting him if he suits up. If you like to be conservative and have another option, you may consider that.
De'Von Achane
Injury: Rib injury
Analysis: Achane landed on the ball on Sunday and injured his ribs. While he was limited in practice to start the week, he is fully expected to play on Monday night. With his injury occurring from falling on the ball, the area of his ribs that is injured is at the attachment point of the oblique muscles and likely part of the pectoralis major muscle attachment. While the injury is acute, this can make it difficult to activate these muscles, which can impact his ability to twist his torso and brace for contact. I'd expect he can get the pain and muscle strength where it needs to be to function well by Monday. Running backs do average a 15% dip in fantasy points after a rib injury, but Achane has been so elite that a 15% dip is not enough to consider holding him out of your lineups.

Breece Hall
Injury: Knee injury
Analysis: Hall is off the injury report following a mild knee injury that kept him out of practice Wednesday. Mild knee injuries do not impact knee stability or the ability to explosively change directions. Hall should be relatively unaffected by this injury.
Woody Marks
Injury: Knee injury
Analysis: A similar story to Hall above, Marks is now off the injury report, and his knee injury should not impact his stability or his ability to quickly change direction. He should be unaffected from a fantasy standpoint.
Tyrone Tracy
Injury: Hip injury
Analysis: Tracy is full-go after the bye week. By now his hip pointer should be cleared up and speed, agility, and power should be restored. Running backs do average a 20% dip in fantasy points after a hip injury, however with the extra bye week to rehab Tracy is a solid RB2/flex.
Nick Chubb
Injury: Rib injury
Analysis: Chubb injured his ribs on Sunday and is trending towards missing week 15. Running backs average missing 1.3 games with a rib injury, so it will not be surprising if Chubb misses. Chubb has not been fantasy relevant this season and can be left on the waivers.
Emari Demercado
Injury: High ankle sprain
Analysis: Demercado has remained limited all week and is questionable to make his return from a week 11 high ankle sprain. An injury that has kept him out this long likely led to some instability, which takes time to regain. Four weeks is often enough time to be close to 100% and fully able to plant and cut quickly. If Demercado can play, his production level should return to its baseline quickly, as running backs average no drop off in fantasy points after a high ankle.
Chris Rodriguez
Injury: Groin injury
Analysis: Rodriguez is questionable to play after being limited in practice Thursday and Friday. A groin injury can impact sprint speed and change-of-direction ability. Fortunately, the groin muscles are not the primary sprinting or cutting muscles, and players can often play well despite injury. Running backs average no drop-off in fantasy points after a groin injury.
Dylan Sampson
Injury: Calf injury
Analysis: After playing through a calf injury last week, Sampson will miss this week with the same injury. He must have aggravated it last week and is unable to go this week. Running backs average missing 1.3 games, giving Sampson a chance to return next week.
Devin Neal
Injury: Abdominal injury
Analysis: Neal has been limited in practice with an abdominal injury but should be ready to play on Sunday. The abdominal muscles are critical for rotating to make a catch and brace for impact, but typically, players can play well through mild injuries. Assuming Neal suits up and teammate Alvin Kamara does not, Neal is a nice RB2.
Wide Receivers

CeeDee Lamb
Injury: Concussion
Analysis: Lamb has cleared the concussion protocol quickly, considering he postured during his injury. There is no performance dip expected, but another big hit to the head could be consequential.
Davante Adams
Injury: Hamstring injury
Analysis: Adams is dealing with a nagging mild hamstring injury but is expected to play. Receivers are the most impacted position from hamstrings due to the workload on the hamstring ramping up after 30-40 yards of sprinting. Receivers historically average a 15% dip in fantasy points, but Adams himself really struggled last week while dealing with this injury. Adams obviously remains a WR1 with elite upside, but his production may take a small hit from the injury. At his age and with his injury history, re-injury risk is elevated.
Tee Higgins
Injury: Concussion
Analysis: Higgins, who had two violent collisions with the ground on Sunday, has been ruled out for week 15 with a concussion. This is Higgins' second concussion in three weeks, and the Bengals and Higgins are correct to exercise caution with him. We don't know how long Higgins will be out, but typically two concussions in this short of time frame result in a prolonged absence.
Jordan Addison
Injury: Achilles injury
Analysis: You see the word Achilles, and you instantly freak the fuck out! Not in this case, Addison was limited early in the week but is off the injury report. His Achilles is not torn; he is likely dealing with a tendinopathy, which can either be inflammation or degeneration of the tendon insertion into the heel bone. Sure, this can hurt, but when athletes are warmed up, the pain is usually minimal, and performance is unaffected. With these injuries, its the before and after activity that are most painful. Addison should not be affected by his injury this week.

Rome Odunze
Injury: Foot stress fracture
Analysis: Odunze somehow is not ruled out this week despite having a stress fracture in his foot. The exact bone is unknown, but a stress fracture needs rest to heal. We obviously don't know all the details but if Odunze does play I would be shocked if he gets a full load of snaps. Odunze has been hit or miss for much of the season and fantasy managers should error on the side of caution and consider other options.
Quentin Johnston
Injury: Groin Strain
Analysis: Johnston was added to the injury report on Friday with a groin. Groin injuries impact a player who relies on his speed and change of direction more so than a player who relies on size and power due to their role in sprinting and changing direction. Fortunately, receivers historically average no performance dip after a groin injury. A Friday injury is never good for Sunday's status, and fantasy managers need to pay close attention to his game day status.
Marvin Harrison Jr.
Injury: Heel injury
Analysis: Harrison will miss another game due to a heel injury. These are typically bruises, but sometimes can be a stress fracture or related to a plantar fascia issue. Harrison is reported to be doing a lot better compared to last week and has a good shot to return in week 16.
Ladd McConkey
Injury: Foot injury
Analysis: McConkey is off the injury report after dealing with a mild foot injury. A mild foot injury is not going to impact the foot's stability and ability to plant and change direction. Receivers average a massive 50% dip in fantasy points after foot injuries, but for McConkey, being fully cleared from the injury report tells us his injury is not severe enough to cause that significant of a performance dip. McConkey however, has been hard to trust this season.
Pat Bryant
Injury: Hamstring injury
Analysis: Bryant has been ruled out with a hamstring injury. Receivers average missing 1.9 games.
Parker Washington
Injury: Hip injury
Analysis: Washington was a full participant Friday and should be able to return after missing week 14 with a hip injury. Hip injuries can impact a receiver's ability to change direction and create space, but receivers average no drop off in fantasy points after a hip injury.
Rashod Bateman
Injury: Ankle injury
Analysis: Bateman was a late add to the injury report on Thursday, and did not practice Friday. It's possible Bateman injured his ankle in practice, and his DNP on Friday makes it possible he does not play. Receivers average a 10% drop-off in fantasy production after an ankle injury. Even if Bateman plays, he should be kept on the bench.
Tutu Atwell
Injury: Hamstring injury
Analysis: Atwell may make his return from the injured reserve this week. This is a nice addition for the Rams, but Atwell is far from fantasy relevant.
Tight Ends

Jake Ferguson
Injury: Calf injury
Analysis: Ferguson started out the week limited on Wednesday, was downgraded to DNP on Thursday, but now is reportedly expected to play. Calf injuries can be tough to play through as they can zap acceleration and have high recurrence rates (15-20%). If Ferguson plays Sunday, based on his practice participation combined with historical data showing a 12% dip in fantasy points for tight ends, I would expect a performance drop. Ferguson, however, has proven a reliable target for Dak Prescott, and there is likely no player on waivers that is a better option, so you would obviously still start him.
TJ Hockenson
Injury: Shin injury
Analysis: Hockenson has been removed from the injury report and will play. Details of his shin injury are scarce, but generally, shin injuries have no impact on production.
David Njoku
Injury: Left knee injury
Analysis: Njoku, who landed on a flexed knee, a common mechanism for a PCL sprain (though not officially confirmed by the team) will miss week 15 because of the knee injury. We'll see if Njoku can return next week but it would not be surprising if he misses multiple weeks.
Mason Taylor
Injury: Neck injury
Analysis: Taylor has been ruled out with a neck injury. The exact details are unclear, and we will look out for more information.
Michael Mayer
Injury: Ankle injury
Analysis: Mayer will play after missing two games with an ankle injury. Tight ends average no decline in fantasy points, but with Brock Bowers clearly ahead of Mayer, he remains off the fantasy radar.
